Ashland Volunteer Fire Department's New HQ and Station 1 Coming Soon!

The Ashland Volunteer Fire Department has proudly served our community for decades,

and now we’re preparing for the future. Our current station is over 50 years old and no

longer meets the needs of our growing district. With call volumes increasing and nearly

$1.4 billion in property value under our protection, it’s time for a modern facility designed

to serve the community for the next 50+ years.

Over the last two years, we have been working with WSKF Architects, Public Safety

Design Architects out of Kansas City, MO, to design our new HQ station. The projected

cost is $11 million and will feature the best in fire station design practices.

Key Features of the New Station:

  •   Training Facilities: Dedicated training classroom and training props in the

apparatus bays to maintain the highest skill levels, plus space for a future training

tower benefiting Ashland and neighboring departments.

  •   Specialized Decontamination Zone: Reducing exposure to carcinogens and

supporting long-term firefighter health and safety.

  •   Strategic Location: Quick access to north and south areas of the district via the

highway, improving response times for fire and rescue calls.

  •   Fitness Area: Promoting health and wellness for all firefighters to ensure peak

performance on the job.

  •   Living Quarters: Comfortable living space for staff, plus room for future crew

members as our department grows.

Community-Focused Planning

The new station is a forward-thinking, long-term investment in the City of Ashland’s

safety. Funded through a bond via the rural fire district, with additional support from the

City of Ashland, it ensures the department has the infrastructure to meet current and

future service needs without placing unnecessary financial burdens on the community.

Our Vision

Ashland Fire relies primarily on volunteers with some paid staff. As the community

grows, this facility ensures we can adapt efficiently, whether expanding paid staffing or

enhancing emergency services, all while maintaining the highest level of safety and

readiness.

Together, We Are Shaping the Future

On behalf of the entire Ashland Volunteer Fire Department, we thank you for your

continued support of our efforts to provide the highest quality fire protection for the

citizens and visitors in our community!
